Indoor Air Quality, Thermostats & Zoning
Comfort is more than temperature. Koch Heating and Cooling installs whole-house humidifiers, quality air filters, modern thermostats, and zoning systems that make Kansas City homes healthier and more comfortable year-round.
A whole-house humidifier moisturizes the air and increases comfort levels, especially during low winter temperatures when indoor air turns dry. Paired with a thermostat like the Honeywell IAQ, your system manages temperature and keeps tabs on humidity levels, automatically running heating or cooling to maintain your desired humidity without an appreciable change in overall temperature.
For filtration, we recommend pleated filters: their higher surface area offers increased capacity, so a higher-capacity filter needs to be changed less frequently while capturing more of what's in your air.
For optimal comfort, we suggest zoning your heating and cooling system — dividing your home into different areas, each with its own thermostat linked to a mechanical damper that opens or closes as the need arises. In summer, the top floor gets hotter than the downstairs; a conventional system usually overcools the downstairs to fix it. A zoned system directs cool air only to the zone that needs it, keeping the upstairs comfortable without freezing the first floor.
